Today's search for The Best Drink Ever takes us to Hinoki & the Bird, an upscale New American restaurant in Century City that blends Japanese ingredients & refined French culinary techniques.
Their cocktail menu designed by head mixologist Gregory Westcott, features an imaginative, ingredient-centric seasonal cocktails using local Californian ingredients inspired by their impressive dinner menu.
The Drink: The Bob by Gregory Westcott
Made with Whiskey and Apple Vanilla Bean Syrup, The Bob is presented with a table side smoke infused Apple which has been dipped in simple syrup and dehydrated.
When the Hinoki wood hits the drink, it alters the aroma to create a distinctive sweet and smokey flavor. Gregory also adds a dash of saline to help bring out the flavor even more. For our cocktail, we went top shelf on this one and had it made with Whistle Pig.
The Bob is the first of several impressive cocktails that we tested. From the Miyagi Mule, to the Velvet Underground, to the Fall Fix, the fall menu does not disappoint.
